Scope: Stainless Steel Gutters, Sumps, and Downpipes

Metal Mart was engaged to supply and install custom stainless steel drainage components as part of upgrade works at 139 Quay Street in Auckland’s waterfront district. Working with Unispace, the project required precision fabrication and seamless integration with existing building elements in a high-profile commercial setting.

Our scope included the manufacture and installation of new stainless steel box gutters, formed from 1.2 millimetre SS316 to suit both performance and coastal durability requirements. Each gutter section was fabricated to drawing, installed with precision, and fixed with sump boxes that were riveted directly to existing outlet points on site.

In addition to the gutters, we supplied and installed four custom-fabricated downpipe and sump units. These were built using 76.2 millimetre diameter stainless steel tube, 1.5 millimetres thick, and polished to a 320 grit satin finish for a clean, professional appearance. Downpipes were welded with custom bends to align with window mullion positions, helping maintain a tidy and coordinated façade.

This project showcases Metal Mart’s ability to deliver tailored stainless steel solutions for commercial building upgrades, especially where performance, appearance, and installation coordination are critical. Every detail was fabricated and installed to spec, with the end result supporting both form and function in a demanding urban environment.
