Beachlands Primary School

Location: Beachlands Primary School, Auckland

Client: Southbase Construction

Scope: Balustrades, Stainless Steel Handrails, Downpipe Protectors, Carving Brackets, Planter Box Rails

Metal Mart was engaged to deliver a full architectural metalwork package for the new development at Beachlands Primary School. Working with Southbase Construction, our team provided a mix of structural and decorative elements to support both safety and visual appeal across key areas of the school.

Our scope included balustrades across multiple staircases, fabricated with a 60 by 10 millimetre flat bar frame and vertical infills. These were hot-dip galvanised and powder coated in a standard Dulux colour for durability and visual cohesion. Matching handrails were fabricated from stainless steel tube and installed to suit stair 1, stair 2, and stair 3, supporting code-compliant access throughout the building.

To assist with stormwater protection, we supplied custom stainless steel downpipe protectors, each fabricated from 2.5 millimetre SS316 with a clean architectural profile. These were wall-mounted and coordinated to fit around 100 to 150 millimetre diameter downpipes.

We also supplied planter box rails fabricated from 40NB pipe, providing hanging support for future planting installations along the façade. In addition, our scope included a set of precision-carved support brackets for a timber artwork feature. This required a combination of welded steel plate and stainless steel folded “Z” brackets, designed to install securely within tight access constraints.

This project showcases Metal Mart’s ability to manage detailed fabrication and site coordination across education sector builds. From safety barriers to custom artwork support, every element was delivered with accuracy, care, and long-term durability in mind.
