Flat Bush School

Location: Flat Bush Southwest Primary School, Flat Bush, Auckland (Te Kura Rau Iti)

Client: Form Building & Developments

Scope: Walkway & Stair Balustrades, Bag Hanger & Shoe Storage, Perforated Screen Panels, Architectural Flashings & Cappings

Metal Mart was engaged to deliver a broad scope of structural and architectural metalwork for the newly constructed Flat Bush Southwest Primary School. The project spanned almost every part of the building, requiring durable solutions and precise detailing across a wide range of elements in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Our scope included over 215 linear metres of walkway and stair balustrades, fabricated and installed to C1/C2 loadings and backed by PS1 engineering. Finished in hot-dipped galvanised steel with stainless steel handrails, these were built to meet safety requirements while standing up to the demands of a high-use school setting.

We also supplied and installed custom bag hangers and shoe storage units across the walkway and interior zones. Built with aluminium hooks, flat bar rails and stainless steel bases, the units were configured to suit different spaces and sized to serve a full school's worth of students through daily use.

Perforated aluminium screens were fabricated and installed to the stair enclosures, powder-coated with a 15 to 20% open area. These add an architectural quality to key circulation areas while serving a practical screening function.

Ramp and stair handrails were also fabricated and installed across the site, totalling 110 linear metres. Designed to complement the broader balustrade scope, these handrails provide continuous support across accessible ramp routes and stair runs, contributing to a safe and compliant environment throughout the school.

This project reflects Metal Mart's ability to manage a complex, multi-element scope within an education sector build. With a focus on quality and consistency across every trade, we were proud to support the successful delivery of this modern learning environment for the Flat Bush community.
