Holy Cross School

Location: Henderson, Auckland

Client: Aspec Construction

Scope: Steel Balustrade, Stair Handrails, Bag Storage Units

Metal Mart partnered with Aspec Construction on Stage 1 of the redevelopment at Holy Cross Catholic School in Henderson, delivering the balustrade, handrail, and bag storage packages for the school's new teaching block, designed by Ignite Architects.

The balustrade was fabricated from 60 by 12 millimetre steel flat bar, hot dip galvanised and bolt fixed to the steel perimeter beam. The full assembly was designed and fabricated for bolted connection throughout, with no site welding required, keeping installation clean, fast, and safe on a live school site. Matching stair handrails were fabricated from mild steel pipe, hot dip galvanised and jointed with internal sleeves for a smooth continuous run.

The bag storage came out particularly well. Across 240 hooks and 66 galvanised base rails, we ran multi coloured hooks over a two tone finish, with black powdercoated posts keeping the overall look subtle. Small customisations like that lift the whole space, and they show what is possible when fabrication detail is considered early.

Working alongside Aspec Construction and Ignite Architects, this project reflects the quality and coordination we bring to education builds, where programme certainty and a clean, durable finish matter in equal measure. With Stage 1 complete, we look forward to the next stage of the school's development.
