Manurewa South Primary School

Location: Manurewa, Auckland
Client: Focus Construction
Scope: Steel Balustrades, Stainless Steel Handrails, Laser Cut Signage, Architectural Flashings
Metal Mart partnered with Focus Construction on the expansion of Manurewa South School, delivering the balustrade, signage, and flashing packages for the new teaching spaces and the Rosehill satellite unit.
The balustrades to the stairs and balconies formed the heart of the scope: solid steel flat panels with folded edges, mounted between steel posts with welded cleats and topped with grade 316 stainless handrail tube on custom brackets. The full assembly was finished in a specified multi coat powdercoat system, abrasive blasted and built up through zinc rich primer to the architect's chosen colour, a system carrying a 15 year film integrity and colour retention warranty. On a school balcony taking daily punishment from hundreds of students, that finish specification is the difference between metalwork that lasts and metalwork that gets replaced.
Our team also fabricated the building identification signage, laser cutting the letters from 6 millimetre aluminium and mounting them to powdercoated frames, wayfinding delivered with the same fabrication quality as everything else. Powdercoated aluminium flashings completed the package, covering base protection, window headers to the block veneer, and corner post details throughout.
Manurewa South adds to the education projects we deliver across Auckland, from staged remediations through to new teaching blocks. It is work that rewards durable specification, clean coordination, and metalwork made to withstand the busiest users a building can have.
