Metal Mart partnered with Southbase Construction on E Tū Wairua Hinengaro, the redevelopment of the Mason Clinic in Point Chevalier. As a specialist mental health facility, every element of the build had to meet a demanding combination of security, safety, durability, and dignity, and our metalwork package sat right at the heart of those requirements.

The largest component of our scope was over 1,100 square metres of anti-climb 358 mesh screening across the courtyards, gardens, and secure link, galvanised and powdercoated, and detailed to our own proposed drawings. Working through the design with the project team, we were able to offer refined options across the mesh package that delivered meaningful savings to the project without compromising the specification.

Inside the facility, we supplied and installed 134 stainless steel kick plates manufactured to the door schedule, aluminium chequer plate wall protection throughout high traffic areas, and 68 abrasion resistant polycarbonate shower screens with security rated fixings. The external package included anti-climb downpipe shrouds custom folded and powdercoated to match the cladding, along with galvanised gates, chain link fencing, and folded flashings.

Secure healthcare environments are among the most demanding settings we work in. Every component must be robust, tamper resistant, and precisely made, with no room for error across hundreds of individual items.
