Paora Apartments

Location: Orakei, Auckland

Client: Southbase Construction

Scope: Structural Angles, Galvanised Handrails, Stainless Steel Lobby Handrails, Abseil Rail System

Metal Mart was engaged to supply and install key metalwork packages for the Paora Street Apartments development in Orakei. This mixed-use residential project required a blend of structural support, safety features, and premium finishes across both external and internal areas.

One of the major deliverables was a fully installed perimeter abseil rail system mounted to the parapet edge. This involved over 99 metres of mild steel CHC rails, galvanised for long-term performance and installed using a mix of proprietary bracket types across the rooftop perimeter. The result was a safe and compliant maintenance access system, delivered with precision and careful coordination.

We also supplied and installed galvanised handrails for access ramps and external corner stairways. These were fabricated to suit the site’s levels and kerb details, ensuring both durability and safe navigation throughout the complex.

Inside the building, Metal Mart offered two lobby handrail solutions to meet both design and durability needs. Options included polished stainless steel or powder-coated aluminium in Dulux Antique Bronze, with all components fabricated and finished in-house.

Additional works included supplying 100 by 100 galvanised steel angles for spoon drain edging, custom bracket sets for fixing to blockwork, and 150 by 100 RHS sections with cleats welded at regular intervals for structural support, supplied ready for install by others.

This project demonstrates Metal Mart’s ability to deliver complex and varied metalwork packages for residential developments. With experience across structural, architectural, and safety installations, we remain committed to detail, durability, and delivering on time.
