Metal Mart has become a trusted fabrication partner for New Zealand's data centre sector, with a growing portfolio of completed facilities and multiple projects currently under construction. Due to the sensitive nature of this work, locations and client details remain confidential, but it sits among the most technically demanding metalwork we deliver.
Data centres are mission critical infrastructure, and the metalwork reflects it. Our teams have supplied and installed extensive security mesh systems across walls, ceilings, cells, and mechanical intake areas, including sealing mesh around cable tray penetrations, custom security grilles and frames, and the secondary steel that supports it all. Every panel is coordinated around services, penetrations, and access requirements, security and functionality delivered together.
Access metalwork runs throughout these facilities: ladders, pit ladders, hatches, safety gates, doors, and wall brackets, all fabricated to suit their exact location and load requirements. In the mechanical zones, we have installed heavy duty FRP mesh flooring, chequer plate coverings, and stainless steel scrubbers, engineered for constant access and demanding conditions. The finishing package is just as extensive: kick plates, wall protection, aluminium trims, floor trims, door flashings, and the custom closures that resolve every junction, hundreds of individual components per facility, each made to fit.
Our capability in this sector continues to expand, now including security fencing and crash rated components, delivering whatever the project specification requires from the perimeter inward.
Working in these environments demands more than fabrication capability. Security protocols, strict programme coordination, and zero tolerance for rework all come standard, and repeat engagements across multiple facilities reflect the trust placed in our team to deliver. As New Zealand's digital infrastructure continues to grow, we are proud to be one of the fabricators quietly building it.
